ILO hardware events to HP SIM

hi,

I've recently configured HP SIM and set up a few ILO's with "auto sign-on by certificate". This is working just fine.

However, I'm trying to get some hardware events into HP SIM. For example, when a power supply is damaged, the ILO should send a snmp event to HP SIM. The HP SIM however, doesn't report it!

Is it true that this is only possible by installing a software agent onto the OS of a server I want to monitor?

Thanks

Unless it is a Gen8 Server with iLO4 which, yes you will need to have SNMP Agents or WBEM Providers installed on the OS. They are what triggers the trap when there is a problem.

Thanks Jim!

What a shame, since the ILO already has that information on itself...

Re: ILO hardware events to HP SIM

We have G8 Servers and configured ILO4 agentless to communicate with the HP SIM.
The discovery of the ilo was ok, but it does not check the server hardware behind. SNMP = ?
do i need to install an agent on the server?

Re: ILO hardware events to HP SIM

No Agent on the Server, but for AgentLess Discovery AMS need to be installed and enabled.

if it helped, award me Kudos or Points. Thanks :)
