since the upgrade from HP SIM 5.0 to HP SIM 6.0 we have those major and minor warning:

This events have been added in SIM6.0. Now whenever a system is removed from enclosure or VMguest removed from host,the associations wont be deleted immedietly. Associations will be removed if the system is not reachable for more than 5times.
Before removing the association these 2 events will be posted. This events means, that the sytem is not reachable for more than 5times and association will be removed.

Can anyone advise how to stop these alerts being generated as they are getting caught up with our alerts that are emailed to our support team and I cant see any use for that?

I was able to disable these notification by editing the Event Collection that is configured to send these notifications. Uncheck the event types as seen in the attached screen shot.

As FamilyMan I chose a similar way (see attached picture).

Select Events

where severity is Critical

or where severity is Major

or where severity is Minor

or where severity is Warning

and event type IS NOT Systems Insight Manager Events "Insight.AssociationCounter" + "Insight.AssociationRemoved"

For me, HP-SIM 6.3 is still the best because most reliable version. Every 7.x release stopped getting traps after some time for unknown reason. I tried installations of 7.0 to 7.5 on physical server, on virtual guests, with server 2008 and server 2012, with different editions of SQL but nothing helped to get HP-SIM 7.x working as reliable as 6.3.

I also use the same filter option to filter a lot of unneeded events, these days SIM needs quite a lot of tuning just to keep it runnen in a larger setup. Also if you need to use the filter a lot of event types are unregistered and that does not help if you need to click 20 times or more in a collection to find the right type of event to filter.
