Insight Manager with Orace Linux 5

Hi,

Oracle Linux 5 is nearly the same as Redhat 5.
I want to install the HP Insight Manager but if I start the install780.sh nothing happens. The installer posts some messages, and an error on line 329.

--------------------------------------------
# ./install780.sh
./install780.sh: line 329: [: `)' expected, found -z
Saving user-defined agent thresholds... [ Done ]

Restoring user defined agent thresholds... [ Done ]

The Linux O/S on this system cannot be identified
by the HP ProLiant Linux Deployment Utility.
Please check /etc/redhat-release for correctness.
Cannot continue. Exiting.
--------------------------------------------

Someone can help?

Thank you!

Re: Insight Manager with Orace Linux 5

"Nearly the same" is the key phrase; Oracle Linux isn't tested or supported by HP, so don't expect to be able to call HP customer services with a question.

First, your error on line 329 may indicate a corrupted shell script; you might want to re-download.

"install780.sh" checks for the version of Linux. You'll need to edit it to avoid the check.

Re: Insight Manager with Orace Linux 5

I found the following list on hp:

http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/servers/linux/hpLinuxcert-oracle.html

I am using 3 DL585G2.

Seems like "supported" for me.
Correct me if I am wrong.

Thank you.

We want to do just that in a few weeks. Have you solved your problem or applied some workaround?

Re: Insight Manager with Orace Linux 5

David above had the correct answer I believe.

I setup Oracle Linux with the HP agents, it does work.

You need to edit the file /etc/redhat-release, to appear exactly like a real Red Hat EL 5 system.

I no longer use Oracle Linux, went back to Gentoo, but I think the file needed to look something like this.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5 (Tikanga)

After making this change, the script ran.
