Integrating sonicwall .mib files into HP SIM 5.1
I've instaled HP SIM into our network for testing purpouses
we're hp products resellers, we think HP SIM i'ts a good way to manage any kind of network infrastructure and want to make our knowledge regarding this product to be based on direct experience.
I've successfully completed the basic installation and discovery of servers....
now configuring all the devices to be correctly recognized and managed....
no troubles at all with any kind of hp device but we've a sonicwall TZ-170 firewall unable to be correctly managed.
I've downloaded .mib files from sonicwall protected download area, placed into mibs folder and started .mib compile operations before registering the mibs itself.....
no troubles with 2 of the modules but the third is reporting the following error:
C:\Program Files\HP\Systems Insight Manager\mibs>mcompile sonicwall-firewall-tra
p.mib
HP Systems Insight Manager Mib Compiler, Version 5.0.2.1
Copyright (c) 2003-2006 Hewlett Packard Corporation
Compiling sonicwall-firewall-trap.mib
Line: 50: Error defining MODULE-IDENTITY: Expected 'DESCRIPTION', found Add
Mib compilation failed.
I've searched on the web for similar results with no success...
i suppose any kind of syntax error into .mib file structure.
the .mib file is attached to this post, can anyone look inside and tell me how to fix this issue??
many thanks in advance,
Francesco

Re: Integrating sonicwall .mib files into HP SIM 5.1
I have a similar problem but it is with line 61. Iâ ve pasted the exact message below and attached the .mib file Iâ m attempting to compile.
********************************************
HP Systems Insight Manager Mib Compiler, Version 5.0.2.1
Copyright (c) 2003-2006 Hewlett Packard Corporation
Compiling SW-FIREWALL-TRAP.mib
Line: 61: Error defining OBJECT IDENTIFIER: invalid registration for snmpTraps
Mib compilation failed.
********************************************
If anyone out there is fluent with writing .mib files that are compatible with the compiler for HP SIM, Iâ d be willing to pay a fair price for your help.
