Is there a trick to configuring SMTP notification

I have the server notification details setup correctly, yet the following message explains the failure in notification:
Action Status details

Sending failed; Could not connect to SMTP host: scamail.scapromo.com, port: 25; java.net.SocketException: Software caused connection abort: connect

Anyone familiar with this, or no of some configuration to correct this?

Is your SIM server able to resolve the name "scamail.scapromo.com"?

and also make sure that your SMTP server doesno't require any authentication to connect from your SIM Server

or you could try the IP address of your mail serevr, if unable to resolve dns name?

are you running any type of virus scanning software on your server? if so try disabling it and try again.

Ensure the firewall rules permit the SIM server to access SMTP via port 25.

Thanks for the lead to follow. For those using McAfee VSCAN 8 or higher and have Access Protection rules enabled, in the Port Blocking tab, ensure that mxdomainmgr.exe is in the exceptions list or HPSIM will never be allowed to connect to the SMTP server.
