Is there a way to integrate HP SIM to any other application.
Hi,
We have HP SIM in our environment, it manages all our server and storage. Our requirement is to send /forward all the Events to our own Application. Which will execute some task after analyzing the Event fields.
What are the possible ways to achieve this ?
Is there any SDK/API /Web services/ command exposed by HP SIM to achieve this integration.
Thanks,
Priya

Hi,
You can configure event forwarding by creating a task in Options --> Events --> Automatic Event Handling.

Re: Is there a way to integrate HP SIM to any other application.
Hi Dave,
Thanks a lot for your reply.
I looked into Automatic Event Handling section. It has few options which could be useful for us. But still I have few doubts on the configuration of theses option.,
1. Forward as SNMP trap. ( does it able to forward all the properties of the Event as SNMP trap, do I need to configure any MIB, any any configuration I need to do)
2. Run Custom CMS tool ( Still unclear about this, Can I run any of my executable through this option.)
One more help I need, I want one way to create one dummy event , so that I shouldn't wait for an real event to test. Is there any way to do that ?
Is there no programming resources( API/SDK, script library ) exposed by HP SIM.
Thanks again for your help.
Thanks,
Priya

Re: Is there a way to integrate HP SIM to any other application.
To test dummy traps,
You may open iLO interface of any server, enable SNMP and trap destination from Management section, there will be test trap.
Check the received trap on HP SIM events
Create your Automatic Event Handling task based on the event details.

The SNMP trap forwarding will contain all the info you need but yes, you do need the MIB to decode it. You can generate a test trap from the SMH on an agent server of from the agent control panel applet on a windows server.

Re: Is there a way to integrate HP SIM to any other application.
Hi Mahmoud,
Thanks a lot for your reply.
I am very new to HP SIM. I am not able to understand "iLO interface " . Is it a separate component or it comes with HP SIM.
In Automatic Event Handling task , can i execute any executable , or I need to write something HP propitiatory script ?
Thanks

the Lights Out Card or iLO, is a chip on the system bard that allows you to connect to the terminal of a server even when the server is powered off. It maintains its own power draw from the mains and allows you to do things like:
- Connect to the terminal of the hardware
- Connect virtual media
- Power control the server
- Monitor health status
- Forward snmp traps generated by the server

Are you using the SNMP agents or the WBEM agents? You screenshot indicates that you haven't got the SNMP agents running.
