Issue with HP SIM installation on RHEL 6.1(DL380 G7 Server)

Is SIM 6.3 Supported on RHEL 6.1?

If yes then please help me in its installation.  I have executed the sim bin file downloaded from HP's site. Then I run the command /opt/mx/bin/mxinitconfig -l to test the per-requisites which is done successfully. But when I run the /opt/mx/bin/mxinitconfig -a command, I get the following error.

Failed.
Completed with error.
Details can be found in the log files at: /var/opt/mx/logs
Configuartion failed to complete due to the following error exception: Cannot start HP System Insight Manager Service.
Possible Cause: HP System Insight Manager service is not installed properly.
Resolution: Make sure HP SIM service is correctly installed, restart HP SIM then run mxinitconfig again.

I have used the mxstart command and then mxinitconfig, but again same error.

Re: Issue with HP SIM installation on RHEL 6.1(DL380 G7 Server)

mxinitconfig -a command was successful. I had to stop the SIM using mxstop before the mxinitconfig command.

Now the output of mxinitconfig -a command is:

Completed all tasks successfully. Now I can access SIM as: http://127.0.0.1:280/

But I am not able to login. I am providing the root as system name and root's password as system password. But the sign-in fails.

Please help.

Re: Issue with HP SIM installation on RHEL 6.1(DL380 G7 Server)

I have uninstalled SIM 6.3 and installed SIM 7.0 But still I am getting the same error. I am logging in as root with root's password, but not able to log in.

The valid user is root only, the following log(/var/opt/mx/logs) confirms this. But I am still not able to login. Kindly give your views/solutions.

If you have problem with installation, then Centos is not supported and you must do some tricks to make it work (google for this).

If you have problems with login, and you have 64-bit OS, this is probably known problem when SIM needs 32-bit PAM libraries, do a search on this forum to find a solution.

Re: Issue with HP SIM installation on RHEL 6.1(DL380 G7 Server)

Dear All

The problem has now been resolved. We need to install 32-bit PAM library.

The solution was found on the following link:

http://h30499.www3.hp.com/t5/ITRC-HP-Systems-Insight-Manager/RHEL6-65bit-can-t-sign-in-to-HPSIM-MxPAMAuthRealm-PAM/td-p/4843325#.UFvwcK5J2VN

I have invested a lot of my time on this. I hope this helps you. :)
