Linking 2 or 3 Insight Manager servers
Hi,
We have a large infrastructure with 3 Insight servers. Each one has a different set of machines on it (as machines on each one are behind different firewalls or other historical reasons). We want to be able to have 2 of the servers passing information to the primary one. So, all 3 will be running, 2 will be collating info for the firewalled kit. We then want these 2 to pass the info through the main one. Is this possible? We have reviewed a doc on how to set them up so that if one fails, another will take over. However, this is not quite what we are after.
Can anyone please advise?
Thanks
Chris

Re: Linking 2 or 3 Insight Manager servers
Not that I'm aware of. HP SIM can forward SNMP traps, but that doesn't sound as though it'll meet the requirements.
If the infrastructure is that large then perhaps you should be looking to purchase something like OpenView, Tivoli etc. that can bring these elements together.

Re: Linking 2 or 3 Insight Manager servers
Thanks for the reply Rob. We have a pretty large infrastructure with around 2000 physical and virtual servers. We have Tivoli already but this is not used to monitor hardware failure etc, only performance and storage etc. The best i have found is to set it up so that one Insight server monitors the other. When one goes down, the other will take over all the machines held on it. Nearly what we need but not quite.
