Login from SIM fails

Every day at 0500 SIM fails to login as root. I can not find a task that runs near that time in SIM. What else can I look for on SIM to track this down? I attached a list of all tasks.

Re: Login from SIM fails

SIM fails to login or something fails to login to SIM?
SIM will produce an access error if something tries to login to it with invalid credentials.

Re: Login from SIM fails

If it's daily then it some of the daily tasks =) Those can run long times although the start time is not near that 0500. You don't have any own tasks/tools running ?

Re: Login from SIM fails

If I go to Tasks&Logs - View all scheduled tasks, will I see "Everyones" tasks? If not how can I see ALL tasks?

Re: Login from SIM fails

Rob,

SIM fails to login as root to an AIX server, everyday at 0501. We only have about 100 servers.

Is it possible to stop root from trying to login altogether?

Re: Login from SIM fails

Gentlemen,

I believe I have found the 0500 culprit - System Automatic Discovery.

Will let you know in a bit.

Re: Login from SIM fails

That was it. Just happened to actually read the homepage on SIM ;-) Tune and filter discovery.

I just skipped its IP address in the range.

Will skipping its IP address cause problems with the device that SIM has discovered?

Is it necessary to run the System Automatic Discovery?

Re: Login from SIM fails

You don't have to. Depends on how you want to manage the environment.
You cold schedule it weekly monthly or just manually run it.

To try and login as root you must have either global wbem credentials entered or server specific. You can remove the global and just use wbem on specific servers or override the global with specific for the AIX box.
