Management Component Pack 9.30 for CentOS 6
Hi All
I have a bunch of servers all running CentOS 6.4 x64.
I have installed the rpms (yum localinstall *.rpm) from the downloaded zip and everything gets installed nicely.
The HP System Management Homepage works fine.
However the server alerts being generated by the software don't...
If I unplug a network cable for example, HP Insight Manager sends me an email alerting me of something totally useless.... eg:
Trap-ID=11020 cpqHoMibHealthStatusArray has changed to the value :02 04 00 02 00 00 00 00 00 02 02 02 02 01 04 02 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
Now I have totally no idea what that means, so I need to login to the Management Home page and find out.
But some times the alert clears before I get a chance to see (eg im sleeping) - which makes me curious what on earth went on...
I have raised the issue with HP but with no luck...
Form the looks of it - I may be missing a mib file which is needed to translate the hex code or TrapID?
Has any one have any suggestions on how to fix this?
Thanks

Anyone? These cryptic messages are annoying. We are on RHEL6.4 and 6.5

Re: Management Component Pack 9.30 for CentOS 6
It could be that you have Windows 2003 64 bits machines with management agent 9.10. This version has a bug with generating a lot of 11020 events. You should downgrade to the 9.0 version.
Kind regards,
Andrew

Re: Management Component Pack 9.30 for CentOS 6
Hi
This is for Linux (CentOS/RedHat in particular).
I will try the downgrade as it may be a version bug as you suggest.

Re: Management Component Pack 9.30 for CentOS 6
Hello there,
You could also turn of trap handeling for this specific trap in the mib.
You can access these mibs and edit then from Sim, but when tou run a mib update these changes would be reset to default. This happens when you update Sim or run a hotfix pack.
Kind regards,
Andrew

Re: Management Component Pack 9.30 for CentOS 6
Hi
Dowgrading to 9.10 seemed to work - when I down a NIC (via cisco shutdown / cant uplug remotely) I get a nice email from HP now...
Dec 5 00:52:43 HOST01 kernel: tg3 0000:03:00.1: eth1: Link is down
BUT it doesnt alert me when it comes back up...
And if I take it down again, it doesnt alerrt me - as if it wants me to acholodge the event or something?
Any suggestions guys?
Thanks

Re: Management Component Pack 9.30 for CentOS 6
You could take a look at your forwarding rules configured in Sim . The ok event is an informational event.
Perhalps only major, critical, minor events get mailed?
Look at the all events to if you missed anything. Or look at the event under the server itself.
Kind regards,
Andrew
