Management over different ip subnets
Hi, I some Q:s about how to reach servers from SIM over different subnets.
How do I get VCA to work(there is no dns involved so everything is depending on ip)
Is there any special port for VCA commmunication. SNMP is configured. SMH is working. No clients appears in the SIM when I perform "Discovery"
Is the any whitepapers about these things
Not. This is SIM5 and W3k servers

Re: Management over different ip subnets
You'll need to manually add these subnets. Make sure you can ping these subnets from the SIM server, then you can add the subnets in discovery settings. Performing a manual discovery after that should make the clients appear.

Re: Management over different ip subnets
Are ports blocked between these subnets?
I've successfuly had everything working across 5 subnets before. You just have to make sure that the SIM server is able to ping a node in each subnet.
Another thing you may want to try is on all your clients making a hosts file entry pointing to your SIM server to ensure that they can find the server, especially if you do not have DNS for some of these servers.
