Migrate SIM 5.2 to SIM 6

Hi all,

I need to migrate SIM 5.2 on Windows platform to release 6. I would like to migrate data on the same server.Is there any known issue about this procedure ?

Could you suggest me the better way to follow about this procedure?

SIM 6 as SIM 5.2, is it supported for integration with OM8.x for windows?

Attempting to do the same. I setup a DEV environment and have installed 5.2 and attempted to connect to a detached and copied 5.2 SQL DB from a fresh 5.2 install. DB Table corruptions. Also tried to connect to the DB via 5.3 and 6.0 Installs. Attempted to use the 5.2 All of these, when changing DB Name in the DB PROP files. When attempting to connect to the 5.2 DB during the 5.2 install, get connection errors (although all of the data is correct). The only way to complete the install is to connect to the default SQL Instance and DB (MSSQL & master). VERY Difficult to setup DEV environment to test, and will NOT upgrade PROD without complete test and clear documentation. Goo-Luck Fab.

Just detaching 5.2 DB and attaching the DB to 6.0 wont work, as the DB in 6.0 has undergone lot of Schema changes.

another option is upgrade to HP SIM 5.3,
Migrate the Data from 5.3 to 6.0 with the help of Data migration Tool,

The new Migration tool will enable you to easily transfer your old settings

* from an HP SIM 5.3 CMS to an HP SIM 6.0 CMS
* from an HP SIM 6.0 CMS to another HP SIM 6.0 CMS

Thanks for the information, but i need to investigate about "upgrade" procedure and not "migration data" procedure.


-I would like to upgrade SIM 5.2 to SIM 6.0 on the same server.I don't need to migrate data to another server, but i only need to upgrade SIM Application.Is it possible ?
The technical documentation explain me that is it possible but i would like to be sure and know if could be any issue on this.

-What about RSP(remote support pack), is it upgraded as well with SIM 6.0 installation ? Does i need to upgrade it separately ?
From the previous version, i know that RSP is not supported on virtual server.Is it supported now?

You need to have v5.40 or later installed.

Yes you can Upgrade SIM 5.2 to 6.0.
but remember to have a System backup of 5.2 in case of upgrade failure u can restore back ur old setup.

RSP is not bundled in SIM 6.0, u need to manually download and install separately after SIM 6.0.

Yes RSP 5.4 supports running on a VM.

for CMS supported environment.
