Migration of SQL 2000(MSSQL) databases from Local server to SQL 2000 Farm.

We have installed the SQL 2000 (MSSQL) and HP SIM 5.0 (CMS) on a single server, due to performance problems running SQL and CMS on the same server. We want to migrate Insight_v50_0_xxxxxxx, PMP_v3_0 and Vmm_db_2 databases to more robust SQL 2000 server on our SQL farm and just keeping the CMS on the same server. We are looking for details step-by-step instructions and any configuration changes required on CMS server (C:\Program Files\HP\Systems Insight Manager\config).
Thank you,
Mahesh

Re: Migration of SQL 2000(MSSQL) databases from Local server to SQL 2000 Farm.

I don't know of a specific guide off-hand that outlines what you want to do exactly but if you move your databases to the new SQL server, update the System DSN information under "Start" --> "Admin tools" --> "Data Sources (ODBC)" for the SIM server databases and then ensure that your SIM system account has r/w to the new database server, that should just about cover it.

I'd give that a try if no one else comes up with anything better I guess.
"Did you get that memo?"
