Monitoring a ISA 2004 server

I am having issues monitoring the actuall server that is running ISA 2004. I have opened up the ISA 2004 firewall wide open between itself and the SIM. But I am still getting an unknown system instead of a DL360 G3. I have checked all of my SNMP settings and found nothing wrong. Any suggestions?

Unknown would indicate that it can see a management protocol of some kind.
From HPSIM, click on the Server name, you should be able to expand product description and that will show the Management protocols it has discovered.
We've yet to configure our ISA Server, but the fact it shows as unknown indicates you're someway there.

In the SNMP Allowed hosts, are you using the IP name or address? it may be a DNS lookup issue?

I have difficulties too. I don't know if my situation is the same of yours: I'm trying to monitor an SBS 2003 system with ISA 2004 installed and I'm using SIM locally. I always get a timeout error and the log shows this line: ERROR LOG (severity=2) Thu Apr 27 17:03:53 2006
UI Timeout -- Nav Load Time: 24s [breakdown: dataprotection(Protect Your Data): 0s || hmanics(HP NIC Agent): 0s || hmaserv(HP Server Agent): 0s || vcagent(HP Version Control Agent): 24s || webagent(HP Foundation Agent): 0s || elm(backwards compatibility): 0s].
Any ideas?

You'll need rules in the ISA Software to allow the HPSIM Server access.
We have done it here, but I cannot recall the exact rules we set up.
Also, does the ISA Server have SNMP and the agents installed?

In addition to Rob's answer, you indeed need to allow certain TCP-ports to connect from and to the ISA-server:
80 (http)
161 (snmp)
162 (snmp trap)
280 (hpsim status update)
443 (https)
2301 (connect SMH/VCA http)
2381 (connect SMH/VCA https)
icmp (ping)

By default, these ports are not allowed on the ISA firewall.
Of course, you need to install the regular stuff on the ISA-server (Support Pack, correct SNMP settings etcetera).

Has any of you figured this issue out?

We are still having the same problem. Nothing showing up in Sim from our ISA servers. We even allowed all traffic to and from the sim server to the ISA boxes, with no success.

Hi guys

Have anyone any new information regarding this topic?
I did exactly what Rob and Ferry suggested, but the server still shows up as Unknown.

However, I was able to get the ISA server communicate with my VCRM regarding PSP level and installed drivers/firmware and HW/SW status is OK.

Really appreciate some help here.
