Network Cable not connected - Major Issue?
In SIM 5.1, monitored servers show up with a status of "Major" when certain network ports are not connected. Can this be avoided or is there a workaround beside disabling the NIC port in BIOS?
Thanks,
Hannes

Re: Network Cable not connected - Major Issue?
Just found out, that the NICs in question can be disabled by putting a # in the line in /etc/modules.conf.
Well, if anyone has an option for doing this from SIM without disabling the NIC either in BIOS or ESX, I'd be still glad to hear!
Thanks,
Hannes

Re: Network Cable not connected - Major Issue?
Even with disabling the NIC in the OS do you have some servers that this doesn't fix?
I wonder if at some point the management agents were changed so if a NIC is disabled in the OS the agents won't be flagged as no connection.
Thanks,
Dana

They don't seem to be good enough to fool ILO's though.

Re: Network Cable not connected - Major Issue?
Disabling the unused NIC or NIC port in the OS fixed this issue on all of my servers. One of the few, shall we say, standard fixes for an issue for me! :)
