New HP SIM Server and Version Control Agent Redirection
Thanks in advance for your suggestions. We recently installed a new SIM 5.2 console. I have populated the console with our list of servers (approx 1200). I have uploaded the latest support packs in the SIM repository.
Now my question. What is the easiest way to redirect all 1200 verson control agents to the new system? I thought about pushing a new version control agent out to all systems, however, with this large amount of servers, we have a very large mix of servers at different support pack levels, OS levels (w2k, w2k3 sp1/2, and w2k3 x64). How do you recommend doing this?
Also, for the authentication portion, what is the best method for setting up the VCAgent to authenticate back? A domain action account? Local user account on the SIM console? If Local, how secure is the agent communication back? Does the VCAgent transfer the username/password in plain text at any point?
thanks!
