Re: Other Vendors Devices Monitoring

Since most of the devices uses SNMP for Managing. So first thing SNMP needs to configured correctly for data collection, and second make sure MIB's are avaliable in HPSIM. To know more about HP SIM mibs refer to below link

http://h10018.www1.hp.com/wwsolutions/misc/hpsim-helpfiles/simsnmp.pdf

And this is HP SIm info library

Re: Other Vendors Devices Monitoring

The Mibs is typical placed under system Insight by name Mibs folder. The above links are woking fine, i didn't find any issue. To add mibs to HP SIM you can use this CLI command mxmib -a for more info refer to below link

Re: Other Vendors Devices Monitoring

Once the MIBS are correctly compiled and installed, monitoring third party or non-HP devices works with HP SIM. Compiling and the "installation" of MIBS are done from HP SIM commands at the command prompt, as mentioned in previous postings

You also need to be aware of what the SNMP traps are in these third MIBS.
This can be checked and assigned categories at the HP SIM console (the HP SIM web page)
at
Options
Events
SNMP Traps

The alert notifications, if needed, can be emailed or otherwise communicated.

You need to know some knowledge of SNMP, MIBS, traps before any of this will make any sense.
