PSP deployment

Hi,

I am currently testing to deploy PSP via management server (SIM).
I want to know what happens if I deploy PSP7.60 for Windows 2000 to W2K3 server?
I tried it,but don't see what is happening!

Many thanks in advance.

Re: PSP deployment

Hello Riks,

ProLiant Support Packs (PSP) represent operating system (OS) "specific" bundles of ProLiant optimized drivers, utilities, and management agents. These bundles of software are tested together to ensure proper installation and functionality.

If you look at the CONTENTs:
http://h18004.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/27534.html
You will see most of them Being DRIVERS;

Its like You are attempting to install Drivers for win2k on a win2k3 machine. What is the purpose ?

Also, for win2k3, PSP 7.9 is the latest one. link mentioned above.

Regards.

Re: PSP deployment

HI Happy Dude,

Thanks for your advice.
The purpose of this was to see what happens if I mistakenly deploy Psp for W2k to W2K3 or vice versa....

That's why I wanted to test the impact on that....

Thanks!!

Re: PSP deployment

Usually it won't let you.
Try it, you can see what it does in the log on the VCA Agent.
