Problem installing Insight Control 6.3

Hello,

I am running into problems with the version 6.3 of Insight Control Suite (SIM) installation.

I run the integrated installed, at some point after the prerequisites check the credentials are validated. Right after that the same credentials are validated for the SQL 2008 R2 prerequisite (I am installing the default express version). This is where the installer informs me that e it cannot proceed with the installation because my password is about to expire. I've tried with several accounts both domain accounts and local accounts without results. I've also tried to mess with the account information lile password never expires but still no luck.

Below is the part of the log where the error happens:

[Tue Apr 26 15:36:28 UTC+0200 2011] HPIC Install: SQL2008PrePreqCheck()
[Tue Apr 26 15:36:28 UTC+0200 2011] HPIC Install: Performing SQL Server 2008 Express SP2 pre-requisites check

[Tue Apr 26 15:36:28 UTC+0200 2011] HPIC Install: anonymous()
[Tue Apr 26 15:36:28 UTC+0200 2011] HPIC Install: Pending password change is needed
[Tue Apr 26 15:36:28 UTC+0200 2011] HPIC Install: ErrorAlert: One or more prerequisites were not met for the installation of Microsoft SQL 2008 Express R2.
- IS Advisor has detected that the Windows password on the CMS has expired. Ensure that a new Windows password is set and retry the installation
After installing the missing prerequisites, reboot the server before restarting the HP Insight Software installation.

I understand this as the code running the SQL2008PrePreqCheck() checks if my account is going to expire. For some reason this check seems to return true.

Any idea?

Thanks

We are having the EXACT same problem with pretty much the exact same setup.

Re: Problem installing Insight Control 6.3

OK, we were able to get past this problem by installing the SQL Express 2008 R2 upgrade manually.
From the Insight SOftware 6.3 DVD "database\sqlexpr" we ran setup.exe and pretty much took all defaults to upgrade SQL.
Then we re-ran the HP Integrated Installer which worked perfectly!

Yep, that's what I ended up doing also. Thanks for sharing.

Re: Problem installing Insight Control 6.3

I've ended up doing this also. Some points of interest:

- HP SIM 6.2 appears to work with an upgraded SQL express DB of SQL 2008 R2

- During the installation of the HP SIM Sevrice i got a 'memory could not be read' violation
If my post was helpful please award me Kudos! or Points :)

Re: Problem installing Insight Control 6.3

I ran into this. The Advisor said everything was as it should be. Obviously it wasn't

Make sure .NET 3.5 is an installed feature, did this and rebooted then it passed the credentials just fine.

Then again your mileage may vary

Re: Problem installing Insight Control 6.3

Hi,

I've repeated the SIM installation while logged in Workgroup, not domain - and it worked :-)

logout and login in workgroup first.

I guess a required old Domain account is expired.
