Problem with virtual machines on cluster

Hello,

we have a big problem with the HP SIM in out company.

We have a lot of cluster systems and on each cluster we have a lot of virtual maschines too.

When i run a Discovery, the HP SIM doesn´t show the right name of the cluster! It shows an arbitrary name of one of the virtual mashine server.

How can i configure the HP SIM or the cluster to show the right name on HP SIM?

Re: Problem with virtual machines on cluster

What has worked for us (sometimes) is to:
remove all cluster resources, cluster name, and physical cluster nodes.
Do a manual discovery of (in order):
cluster nodes
cluster name
cluster resource groups

Hope this helps.

Re: Problem with virtual machines on cluster

Yes thats right, but when I started a automatic system discovery later, the name of the nodes are wrong.

It shows a name of a cluster ressource, for example File or Exchange Server.

Hi !

Did you get a reloöution for this problem?
I got the same problem with the wrong names and sometimes only one of the clusternodes shows up.

Re: Problem with virtual machines on cluster

We too have the same problem. Today, I deleted all servers in the cluster from SIM to fix another problem and rediscovered them via autodiscovery and they were fine. When autodiscovery ran at it's scheduled time a single server in each cluster was removed and replaced by the virtual name of the cluster. This is very painful from an asset mgmt/reporting perspective.
