Rising Threshold Passed but on Wrong Partition.

Here is a strange bug I am seeing. I have a server that is reporting a drive threshold exceeded on it's G: Partition and SIM creates an Event for it's D: partition.

The below report is what I pulled out of SIM. However the alert says D: partition is 90% full.

Logical Disk Drives
System Name Description Total Size (MB) Used (MB) Percentage Used
varkescfp001 C:\ [VARKESCFP001_C:NTFS] 18001 6014 33
varkescfp001 G:\ [VARKESCFP001_G:NTFS] 51450 46334 90
varkescfp001 D:\ [VARKESCFP001_D:NTFS] 138913 46965 33

I was just wondering if anyone ran into this problem and might know what could be causing this.

Client is running 7.80 Agents which I upgraded from 7.60 to see if it would fix this issue. Which it didn't.

HP SIM CMS version is 5.1 SP1.

Goonboon,

I dont mean to teach you to suck eggs as they say but looking at this it is advising that the drive G: is at 90 rather than D: the SIM has a habit or picking drive order at randomm, as below C,G,D

Re: Rising Threshold Passed but on Wrong Partition.

Sorry to warm up an old thread, but the same thing happened to me today. The event in SIM shows the wrong partition!
In fact, it is partition D: that is crowded, but the event states it should be F:

"
Event Details: Rising Threshold Passed (10005)
...
F:Swap [NTFS] disk space
"

When I look at SMH / Files System Space Used it shows correctly:

"
C:\ [System:NTFS] 7631 MB 25136 MB 32767 MB
E:\ [Data 2:NTFS] 4166 MB 24330 MB 28496 MB
F:\ [Swap:NTFS] 4138 MB 4053 MB 8191 MB
D:\ [Data:NTFS] 393472 MB 6513 MB 399985 MB
"

A hint may be that the order is C E F D with D: in the fourth place, as usually F: would be.

When I look at the event log at the overflowing server it says:

"
Threshold Agent: Rising Threshold Passed.
SNMP MIB Variable .1.3.6.1.4.1.232.11.2.4.1.1.5.3 has value 98 >= 96.
Severity: Warning
Description: F:Swap [NTFS] disk space.
Refer to the MIB for a definition of the variable.
[SNMP TRAP: 10005 in CPQTHRSH.MIB]
"

I'm running SIM 5.0 SP4 and Insight Management Agents 7.90 on this particular server.

Three weeks ago we already had the same partition D: overflowing. Event log said:

"
Threshold Agent: Rising Threshold Passed.
SNMP MIB Variable .1.3.6.1.4.1.232.11.2.4.1.1.5.1 has value 96 >= 96.
Severity: Warning
Description: D:Data [NTFS] disk space.
Refer to the MIB for a definition of the variable.
[SNMP TRAP: 10005 in CPQTHRSH.MIB]
"

The solution might be the server wasn't rebooted since the installation of the new agents. Until two weeks ago it was Insight Management Agents 7.51 and the version Control Agent Log told me "Setup will not be complete until the system is rebooted."

Any one to confirm?

Re: Rising Threshold Passed but on Wrong Partition.

I did confirm that rebooting the box does not fix this bug. We recently scheduled an outage and upgraded our agents on the problem server to 7.80 and rebooted it. The server came back up fine but the bug was still there. I have been working with our HP rep and he wanted me to try applying MIB update package but that's a big task since we have SIM plugged into our BMC Event Management application.
