SIM 5.1 across other domains

I am having issues with doing discovery of systems in another domain. The other domain has no trush relations with teh domain SIM is in. Is there anyway to get SIM to recognize the machines in the other domain? I have checked to make sure that snmp is not being blocked by the firewalls.

Any suggestions would be appreciated

Re: SIM 5.1 across other domains

Do you mean domain as in Windows or domain as in 'fully qualified domain name'?

Re: SIM 5.1 across other domains

It shouldn't care about domains as the discovery etc. is all IP address based.
It's probably the other ports that are getting blocked - mainly 2381.
If you go to the following page and review the firewall document it may help.
http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/servers/management/hpsim/infolibrary.html

The status can give a clue.
Unknown - It's found a discovery protocol but doesn't have access.
UnManaged - It has no access to any of the discovery protocols.
Click on the server name and expand Product Description and you'll see the protocols discovered.

Re: SIM 5.1 across other domains

Best guess if they are Windows Server 2003 is SNMP configuration issues. By default WS03 sets SNMP without any community strings and only to respond to localhost. Use Configure or Repair agents in HP SIM to fix.
