SIM 5.3 Email Alert Configuration Problem

Hi

Iam trying to configure the email settings in HP SIM 5.3 as below with my gmail account, but unsuccessfull.

smtp host: smtp.gmail.com
sender's email address : iqbal7000@gmail.com

When I try to "Send Test Mail" , SIM throws the error " couldnot connect to smtp host "

But I can able to configure email settings successfully using my company email account.

Can any one help me out on this ?

Regards
Iqbal

Hello Iqbal,

did you mark the "Server Requires Authentication" checkbox and insert your login and password data?

Re: SIM 5.3 Email Alert Configuration Problem

Hi
You may try to telnet the smtp server on port 25 to see if the firewall is blocking smtp to "internet".
telnet smtp.gmail.com 25
As described in article:

Re: SIM 5.3 Email Alert Configuration Problem

Hi

My firewall is in "OFF" state from the beginning.

When I telnet smtp.gmail.com 25
I get following result,
220 mx.google.com ESMTP p37sm14973057gvf.23

Did anyone find a solution to this? I'm running into the same issue.

With or without authentication is tells me it can't connect to the SMTP host.

Re: SIM 5.3 Email Alert Configuration Problem

I have the same problem. I agree that HP SIM doesn´t support TLS auth. My version is the last one HP SIM 7.2. Thanks.

I tested with Yahoo smtp which work without TLS and worked fine.
