SIM - Sound/Audio Alarms

Does anyone know if it is possible to setup a sound/alarm when a new alert/event is received in S.I.M 5.0?

This could be done, but the sound would only be at the central management server, not at any station accessing HP SIM via browser.

You would need some executable that played your sound(s) and exited. Create a custom command to do this and then create an action on event to call it.

You may want to limit your action to some subset rather than all events or you may end up hearing a constant noise. :)

Thanks for that, but is there no way that it could be done at the workstation which is accessing it via a browers?

Re: SIM - Sound/Audio Alarms

This is something I have had requested by our operators also. Since they can't mark a critical event as "acknowledged" to clear the big red "System needs Attention" warning, the only way they know a new event has occured is if they remember the event count from the last time they looked at SIM. Since they are using several different systems for monitoring this becomes very difficult.

An audible alert would need to be configurable either per browser or per user account, either way would work for our environment. Per user would be great, saved in the SIM database, allow the user to assign a sound for each uncleared Event Status group using whatever sounds are available on their PC (or just standard windows sounds). That would allow our operators to set say dings for major errors, chords for critical errors and nothing for minor and normal events. Each time the event count increases, the .wav fires.

This would be a great improvement to SIM!
