SIM reporting unconnected Network Cards as failed

I have some HP-UX servers with multiple nics of which some are not physically connected to anything but they show up in SIM and SMH as a warning. Also have some Windows servers in same situation despite telling SMH to ignore the card (don't have this feature in HP-UX SMH).

The SIM Server is Windows 2003 SIM 5.3 SP1. All advice welcome.

Paul,

Ole is on the right track. I'm not sure about HP-UX, but in Linux, ESX, or Windows you need to remove the NIC from being "seen" by the NIC agent. The only way to do this is to disable it. You can do this in the OS for Windows, but everything works if you disable it in the BIOS. HP has no way that I know of to do this through the agents or the SMH. The only other option for you is to not run the NIC agent to monitor the network hardware or status of any adapters in the system.
