SIM sending out old email messages

I inherited a SIM server and don't know a whole lot about it...

Several times over the last couple weeks my SIM server has spammed out all the old message it has in it's database. 9000+ emails! Needless to say, this is not acceptable. Does anyone know how to stop this behavior? I have cleared all un-cleared events and this doesn't help.

Here are the server details:
Operating system: Windows 2000
Build version: C.04.00.00
Build date: 2003-12-12 17:32

Thanks,

Dan

Re: SIM sending out old email messages

Dan,

Check the SQL server instance on the box to see if it is consuming lots of CPU. If the SQL server is too busy, there is a flaw in SIM that will regenerate the messages.

Furthermore, you could delete your old events instead of just clearing them, but that is just a workaround for the time being.

I would suggest contacting HP support and putting in a case with them. They should really fix this problem.

Re: SIM sending out old email messages

Thanks Tim, this makes alot of sense, Our SQL server has been getting killed by some large queries lately. Every time the server was bogged down, all the messages would be sent. I'll move the DB to another server.

Thanks again,

Dan
