SIM5 lacks menus

I discovered that SIM 5sp4 installation only displays Tools, Reports, Tasks & Logs, Options and Help menus. Any idea what has happened to Deploy, Configure, Optimize etc? The user has administrative priviliges, so nothing should unavailable?

Hi,
have you installed VSE?
If yes, have you executed vseinitconfig -a?
If yes, try to perform it again. I had the same problem and this resolved.
Take a look of man page before to do that, but you should not have to loose any data...I hope :)

Here are the plugins that are installed:

HP Performance Management Pack 4.0
HP Server Migration Pack 1.11
HP Virtual Machine Management Pack 1.11
HP BladeSystem Integrated Manager 2.0.2

Couldn't find vseinitconfig though.

I think you have to install VSE (Virtual Server Environment) to have Optimize menu on your SIM.
Here you can find the list of product that will be installed with VSE:

vseinitconfig with -a command do this:

Either of these options performs the initial configuration
of the VSE Management Software (this is also the default
function performed if no option is specified). This action
requires that HP SIM has been configured with the
mxinitconfig command and HP SIM must be running. This
command registers the VSE Management Software tools,
toolboxes, and actions with HP SIM, and also initializes the
VSE Management Software database.

If I understood correct, the VSE is for Integrity/PA-Risc environment...the actual problem is that the Deploy menus have been there earlier, but no longer, and I have not used VSE earlier, so I am doubt it has anything to do with VSE :-(

I've attached a screenshot of the current menu view, where deploy etc. are missing.

Uhm....you could try to perform "mxinitconfig -a".

Probably Tommy still have the menu problem, but maybe your case is a little bit different and my replyes could help you better than Tommy.

Try upgrading the HP SIM 5.0 SP4 to SP5 and see whether this works...

Hi Miika,

Maybe you want to try this in case you haven't.

1. Stop the HP Systems Insight Manager service.

2. At the command line, type the following:

mxconfigrepo -f

3. Start the HP Systems Insight Manager service.

Miika, we have seen this problem on our SIM servers and contacted HP. It's a known issue and SIM SP5 is supposed to resolved it.
