SMH Problems

Hi,

Just starting to play around with HP SIM, and im haveing a few problems.
When i try and log into the SMH i have the following problem.( See attached Screen shot)

I have set my SNMP community name, in SNMP traps and have added the ip of my HP SIM box and 127.0.0.1.
In Security i have added the same community name and the rights are RO and ticked the Send authentication trap. I have added my HP SIM box's ip to the accept snp packets from this host.
The box i am playing with is a ML370 and has a built in ILO card in, when i configure this do i name it the same as the server or something else, what would you advise.

Many Thanks

Re: SMH Problems

Hi,
It seems that the HP Insight Agents on your ML370 were not correctly installed.
I would suggest to install/re-install ProLiant Support Pack (PSP 7.70 is the actually now).
PSP download: http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/index.html

Re: SMH Problems

This is typical install
HP Insight Diagnostics Online Edition for Windows Server 2003
http://h18000.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/26044.html

But much much more easy
HP System Management Homepage for Windows
http://h18000.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/26003.html

BUT YOU NEED TO INSTALL:
Install SNMP and HP Version Control Agent for Windows
http://h18000.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/26013.html

CONFIGURE:
1 All you re server SNMP setting are set for TRAPS>Communite name(correc name),TRAPS>Communite name>traps destination> 1-server Insight(no need if no server) & 2-127.0.0.1
#2 All you re server snmp setting are set for SECURITE> Accepted community name>Communite name(correct name),All you re server snmp setting are set for SECURITE> Accepted community name>Communite name> Accepted packet from these host>1-server Insight(no need if no server) & 2-127.0.0.1.

AFTER ALL OF THIS NO REBOOT TO BE DONE

Re: SMH Problems

With the note that PSPs are tested bundles, if you start installing agents etc. that are different versions to the management drivers they get their info from then you may well have other issues.

Installing an entire PSP does need a reboot, but it does install the files as tested by HP.

Also note that the agents can be configured before deployment with Trust Certificates etc.

Re: SMH Problems

Thanks for your help.

I have sorted that problem and i can see all the agents correctly in the SMH.

I am now getting a timeout error while loading the SMH page. I have checked the logs and i beleave it is the VCA agent which says it takes 24sec to load.

Thanks again.

Re: SMH Problems

Sorry just to add to this if i stop the vca service on the target, i get no problems and i also get the system model in the top right of my screen, but if i restart it, the timeout appears and i get no system model or it shows as unkown.

Thanks

Re: SMH Problems

If it VCA,then you got 2 way about ,what is the version you have.if it is HP Version Control Agent for Windows
version 2.1.7.770
http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/26013.html
Just reinstall it or if not upgrade it,if that does work remove it ,reboot and install it again,DO NOT FORGET TO REBOOT

Re: SMH Problems

I have the latest version.

I removed it and rebooted. I tryed to reinstall it, but it would as it said the SMH was not installed, so i had to reinstall that and then it would let me install VCA.

But it is still the same, do i need to remove it and let HP SIM re-detect it?

Many Thanks

Re: SMH Problems

Mel,
You might try configuring your VCA to use a different account name other than "administrator". VCRM by default will not allow the "administrator" account to login from VCA.

Cheers,
Anantha
