Re: SMH can't recognize data source. Tried reinstalling, reconfiguring and replicate from sim
Hi,
To make SMH working with:
1°) SNMP did you check:
- Computer management \ Services \ SNMP service
- Traps tab, if you have a community name like "public" (without the quotes) and in Trap destinations the IP address of your monitoring server hosting HPSIM for instance. If you don't use a monitoring server, leave it blank.
- Security tab, tick the Send authentication trap box, in Accepted community names there should be the public in the list with READ ONLY rights. In Accept SNMP packets from these hosts should be ticked with value Localhost
- SNMP Service should be set to Automatic and Started
- HP SMH \ Settings \ Select SMH Data Source \ Select , check the radio button in front of SNMP, then click Select. Wait a few sec for data refresh.
It should work.
2°) For WBEM:
- You install wbem providers for 2003/2008 Ver 2.6.1.0 (see link below)
Rem: Ver 2.6.1.0 because on 2k3 server I tried version 2.8 and 2.7 without success unfortunately... :-(
Remove other version of wbem provider and reboot before install this version.
- In HP SMH select WBEM as data provider instead of SNMP.
Rem: SNMP config doesn't interfere with the use of WBEM providers.
3°) In HPSIM:
- Choose the server in All Servers list
- Verify the Options \ Protocol settings \ WMI MAPPER PROXY port which should be 5989 (for the use of SSL)
- Verify Options \ Security \ Credentials \ Global Credentials \ Sign-In Credentials should an account with enough rights, SNMP Credentials which should be public
- Verify Options \ Security \ Credentials \ System Credentials, select the target system, click on Run Now select all credentials and then Edit system credentials Click on Show advanced protocol credentials then fill with appropriate values:
Sign in tab : admin account for instance
SNMP tab : read community string : public
WBEM/WMI : port 5989, admin user
WS-MAN : admin user
SSH : tick configure SSH then host based key authentication
Single Sign-on : tick Set Trust relationship to "Trust by Certificate"
Click OK
Wait for update
- Then do Configure \ Manage communications. Everything should be green. If not do Advise and Repair then do a Quick repair
Hope it will help you.
Cheers
