SQL Cluster Monitoring

Hello,

In our organization, we've a 5 nodes SQL cluster. SRVSQL is well discovered by HP Sim, but when I want to monitor it, I get the message: "unable to retrieve the Microsoft Cluster Service". There are 4 other clusters where the Cluster Monitor works fine. I've the following article in the MS knowledge base that could explain the issue. As in the article, I've only named instance, no default instance.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/279870

Can you give me your opinion
Thanks

Re: SQL Cluster Monitoring

Did you add these systems to HPSIM via manual discovery? I did for several of our MSCS clusters and had the exact same problem with all the manual server nodes/clusters that I added to our HPSIM 5.1 system.

The solution was simple - delete the manually added cluster device and nodes, configure a system automatic discovery with an IP inclusion range for the cluster and node IP's.

The following URL may help you understand this:

Re: SQL Cluster Monitoring

If you deployed Windows with the PSP and management agents and then established the cluster, the most likely the 'Clustering Information' status in the HP Management Agents. If the cluster wasn't running when the agents were installed, a cluster wouldn't be detected. Go to the HP Management Agents applet in Control Panel and make sure that 'Clustering Information' is in the Active column.
