Servers integrated in a new HP SIM - Now SMHP not running anymore
Hi,
i migrated two servers (1 ML 350 G5, 1 ML 350 G4p, both SLES 10 SP4 64 bit) from an old HP SIM to a new one. New HPSIM (7.2) is running on a KVM VM, SLES 11 SP2. Integration into new SIM worked fine. But now the System Management Homepage (1 version 3.0.2, 1 version 2.1.8) of the two servers does not see any devices in it. Also the SMHP from an already in the new SIM integrated Server (ML 350 G6, SLES 11 SP3) stopped working, although it worked before.
Any idea ?
Bernd

Re: Servers integrated in a new HP SIM - Now SMHP not running anymore
Please check the support matrix.
I never heared about KVM support.
You will run into troubles if you want to use Insight Remote Support.
The SMH is checking if certain elements are running. Which seems not to be the case on your KVM Hypervisor.

Re: Servers integrated in a new HP SIM - Now SMHP not running anymore
Hi,
the SMHP is not running on the KVM, but on two ProLiant systems. The SIM is running on a KVM which is ok. It's running and HP said it's ok having SIM on a virtual system. My problem is that after integrating the two ProLiant systems into this SIM the SMHP of the ProLiant systems opens but does not show any device.

Re: Servers integrated in a new HP SIM - Now SMHP not running anymore
Hi,
SMHP is now running on one ProLiant Box. I forgot that i changed the rwcommunity in /etc/snmp/snmpd.conf. If i add localhost to this rwcommunity, HP SMHP is running fine on one box. But not on the other. Althoug i also added localhost to snmpd.conf. Restarting hpsmhd on the failing box says:
pc52974:/etc/snmp # /etc/init.d/hpsmhd restart
Shutting down hpsmhd done
Starting hpsmhd ]
...
Connected to 127.0.0.1:2301....
pc52974:/etc/snmp #
pc52974:/etc/snmp #
pc52974:/etc/snmp # Problem receiving data: Connection reset by peer (104)
sent /proxy/reconnect...counter=1, status=104
*** GOT PORT 2301...i=0 ****
Does anyone know what this mean ?

Re: Servers integrated in a new HP SIM - Now SMHP not running anymore
Could it be that the server is busy?
