maybe you can think to insert the pam directory into PATH....

SIM on 64bit linux isn't really supported. The main issue you are having is that SIM is looking for the 32bit PAM version/path for authentication. I'll have to check the workaround for getting you up and running and will post that out.

Darrin: Have you found a workaround for this problem?

As far as I can see in the support matrix SLES10 on AMD64 is supposed to be working (although it did mention Automatic install doesn't work, but doesn't really matter to me).

I'm having exactly the same PAM problem here, a solution without forcing me to go 32bit (as it technically cannot be done in my environment) would come in great.

just install the 32-bit pam and pam-modules packages.
