Switch monitoring from isolated network using HP SIM 6.3
We've got a couple of Cisco Catalyst 3560G switches we'd like to monitor with HP SIM 6.3
The complication is that both are isolated from the main network, but are accessible from a VM which is there for SAN management
Is there a way I can collect alerts from these switches via this VM and for this data to be shipped to HP SIM?

Re: Switch monitoring from isolated network using HP SIM 6.3
HP-SIm does only display Events of known managed system.
What you can do is a SNMP Trap forward on the VM's which have contact to the switches.
Depending on the functionality and the confguration of the SNMP services on the system in between it could be possible that you can display the traps under the correct object name or the name of the vm.
If you enable the discovery of a system after receiving a trap it should be much easier to find a solution.
Perhaps you get a system unreachable event of the switch IP, which does not look so nice.
SIM tries to poll the system he has discovered.
It should be possible to do. You can have more exotic things in side a SIM environment.
But you should also think what happens if you need to upgrade to an newer version.
For some devices you will see limitations because HP reads back the health status or other information e.g. erial number product number.
