Upgrade HP SIM 5 SP4 > SP5 gives account lockout.
I have an environment with Windows 2003 SP1 AD-servers. I have also an account lockout policy that lokes the account if 50 failed logons is done in 30 minutes.
(recommended by MS Security guide april 2006)
I run HP SIM on a member server.
I installed HP SIM 5 SP4 in may this year, no problem with account lockout.
This morning I uppgraded to HP SIM SP5 and my HP SIM-account locks (same account during all of the installation).
I get the same problems in an test-environment.
That has HP done in HP SIM 5 SP5 taht locks the SIM-account.
(I was mailbombed (1700 mails in 15 minutes) from HPSIM to my mailbox with the text.
""Event Name: Login Failed Authentication""

Re: Upgrade HP SIM 5 SP4 > SP5 gives account lockout.
Here come som more info.
With HP SIM 5 SP4 I have no problem with locked account.
I did the upgrade from SP4 to SP5 (only 2 modules was upgraded ├в Insight ├в ┬ж and Performance..├в ) the otherone was gray.
After the upgrade I rebooted the server.
After a few minutes SIM startes to mailbomb me with mail about ├в Failed logins├в .
Today I to stop the service ├в HP Performance Management Pack├в and no more lockouts, no more mail with ├в Failed logins├в .
If I start the service ├в HP Performance Management Pack├в the account locks, and I get mails with ├в Failed logins├в .
So it must be something with ├в HP Performance Management Pack├в in SP5 of HP SIM 5.
I have edit the service ├в HP Performance Management Pack├в with the same account and password again and started the service.
The account still locks.
Can I use mxpassword to reset the account/password deeper in HP SIM??
What can i do more?
Regards Mikael

Re: Upgrade HP SIM 5 SP4 > SP5 gives account lockout.
I upgraded from HP SIM 5 SP4 to HP SIM SP5 and the only modules that was upgraded was Insight Manager and HP PMP ..
So I'm running HP PMP ver 4.1 .

Re: Upgrade HP SIM 5 SP4 > SP5 gives account lockout.
Did you do a custom upgradation?
If So,
Note: During the installation of the PMP, the warning is displayed:
"As part of HP Performance Management Pack installation the HP Systems Insight Manager service must be stopped and restarted.
Click OK to stop the service and continue with the PMP installation, or click Cancel to abort the installation."
1. Click Next. The Database configuration screen appears.
2. Enter your account password.
3. Click Next. Installation begins.
4. Click Finish to exit PMP setup.
In case you have not done the above.

Re: Upgrade HP SIM 5 SP4 > SP5 gives account lockout.
I hadn't any problem with the installation/upgrade (no errors)
I realy can't remember if the upgrade was typical ocr custom, I think custom.
I filled in the things you write about.
IT must some new feature that doesn't work with PMP because I have t on 2 HP SIM invironments both upgraded from HP SIM SP4 to SP5
AND I have an account lockout policy thats lock tke account after 50 failed logonsin 30 minutes (recomended my Microsoft).
NO lockouts with HP SIM 5 SP4.
