Upgrade SIM5.0 to 5.2 on a new server

Hi,

Being that SIM 5.2 cannot be installed on Win2k, i'm going to have to install it on a new server with win2k3 instead of just upgrading our current 5.0 version. What would be the best way in moving the current setup to the new?
Are all the user settings (hosts, events, etc) in the DB?
Could i install a fresh SIM installation & just connect it to the old DB?

cheers

Yes Psykie, you can do that using remote DB while installation.
Which Database server you are using?

sql 2000. I noticed that the SIM5.0 db is named differently than the 5.2. will that be an issue?

that will not cause any issue. While installation On Database configuration page you can choose the old DB instance.

Re: Upgrade SIM5.0 to 5.2 on a new server

Hi,

my problem is that I cannot edit the database name in the SIM 5.2 setup dialog!

Instance Name: MSSQLSERVER
Database Name: master (greyed-out)

Do you have any solution for this problem!?
