Re: VCA Disk Drive Firmware Support
Is it configurable which data source the VCA uses to "discover" the installable disk drive firmwares? - Because I have a BL460c G6 with Windows Server 2003 x64 (SP2), with VCA v2.2.1.830. - So it does work on 64bit operating systems.
I also have a DL380 G6 with Windows Server 2008 x64, with VCA v6.1.0.842 - that ALSO shows the option to upgrade firmware on local drives. VCA v6.1.0.841 is in the PSP (8.40) and THAT version doesnt show the drive firmware upgrades.
However, after installing VCA v6.1.0.842 I often get a timeout loading the SMH. This I've seen before on older VCA versions, and this problem seem to have returned in v6.1.0.842...
Killing the vcagent.exe process and restarting the service used to help on these timeouts. However that doesn't seem to be the case with VCA v6.1.0.842.

Re: VCA Disk Drive Firmware Support
1) VCA only take the Diskdrive firmware data from WMI. So, no other source available to configure!
2) 2.2.1.830 was a 32bit VCA running on a 32bit or 64bit OS. But in 841 there are VCA for x86 and VCA for x64 speparetly. hence Diskdrive was not visible with x64 VCA. which is fixed in 842..! as you noteded.
3) For VCA Timeout issue, SMH timeout can be set to 30 or 45 secs , since VCA might take that long to get inventory from VCRM.

Re: VCA Disk Drive Firmware Support
Logapriyan, thanks for clearing that up :)
Now I just notice with VCA v6.X that I don't see Controller firmware in the VCA inventory...
I've had to downgrade our machines to VCA 2.2.2.835. - This seem to be working, so I'll keep it there until they fix that in v6.X.
