Re: VCRM crash during catalog validation
Even I have faced this issue recently,
Create a 0kb file using Notepad [e.g. open Notepad, click on Menu â Fileâ -> â save asâ and Give the file name as â hpdiags-7.5.0-14.linux.i386.rpmâ ],
This will make VCRM not to download files again during auto update.

if not, download & use it from http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?swItem=MTX-b6e6bd09cc5a4432a242abb85d〈=en&cc=us&idx=3&mode=4&

Re: VCRM crash during catalog validation
1) Stop VCRM service.
2) Open the repository folder using explorer
3) Move the components (*.exe, *.tar.gz, *.rpm, *.scexe) not having associated "*.mnf" files out of repository folder & into some test folder.
4) Start VCRM
If VCRM crash is prevented after above steps, provide the list of file names from test folder.

Re: VCRM crash during catalog validation
I installed another yesterday on a physical server which still has support. I will open a case as soon as the problem shows there.

Re: VCRM crash during catalog validation
I got a answer from second-level support this morning:
"I have checked with the next level and have been updated that this issue is a bug in the 6.x version of VCRM and is scheduled to be fixed in the next release of VCRM which is scheduled to be released by the end of January 2011."
I got a VCRM working using process monitor from sysinternals. After VCRM crashes I take a look at the log and overwrite the last examined file. I found at least three components which led to a crash. Lovely method to spend an entire work day ;-)
