Version Control Agent (mis) identifies Dell PE 1650

I'm using a Dell PowerEdge 1650 as a Version control Repository.
To that end, I need the HP Systems Management Homepage installed..
To help keep this up-to-date, I installed the Version Control Agent... yes it points to itself, but at least it will allow clean and easy updates to the HP-SMH.

However...

The VCA Mis-identifies the system and proposes the following updates:
* HP ProLiant ATI RAGE XL Video Controller Driver for Windows Server 2003.
* Online ROM Flash Component for Windows - HP ProLiant BL25p G2 (A11) Servers

Now I'm not silly and know not to install these on this system.. at the moment.. but buy the time I've got 30+ systems running off here and am crunching through a series of updates.. it could happen by accident..
PLUS.. The VC status in SIM will show Caution (yellow triangle)

Is this a bug?
If so, is this the correct place to raise this?
- If not. Where should I raise this?

Can this be disabled for those 2 components?

See attached screenshot..

Many thanks
Dave

Well, you're obviously getting a false positive. Best suggestion would be to use VCRM to build a custom support pack that only contains the VCA and SMH components and set the Reference Support Pack for that one machine to your custom one.

Re: Version Control Agent (mis) identifies Dell PE 1650

Ok, so I've created a custom support pack and set it as the reference.

Overall software status is now showing 'green tick' (OK).

However the VCAgent is still reporting the ATI RAGE and BL25p as installed, and having updates in the 'latest version' colum.

Is this the best I can achieve?

As I said, it's a false positive. We check what we hope will be unique signatures (and it is unique within our product line) but it appears that this Dell is responding as if it was one of ours.

OK.

Much appreciated.
I guess one can't have a perfect world.
I'm trying to maximise my leverage for HP servers and their management when jumping into Dell environments.

Many thanks for your help..
At least my software status is now showing green.
