daily system identification using tcp dest. port 1024?
HP SIM is running a system identification every day, and by some reason it uses tcp dest. port 1024, which is definitely not optimal. Why does it use this port, and how can I change it?

Re: daily system identification using tcp dest. port 1024?
The identification process is how HP SIM determines what protocols a device uses and what is present on them. It's sort of like playing 20 questions with a device.
There are a number of TCP ports that are scanned during identification, like 80 for a default web server, 411 for the IBM Director web agent, 3202 for the StorageWorks NAS admin page, 8222 for the ESX/GSX manager and so forth. Port 1024 is the location of the Microsoft Virtual Server Manager.
AdditionWsDisc.props is the file that holds this configuration and is found in %ProgramFiles%\HP\Systems Insight Manager\config\identification. Restart the HP SIM process after changing this file to take effect.
