disable 2301 listen of hp system homepage

For a while http://localhost:2301 only contains a redirect to point out that https://localhost:2381 should be used. I like the HP Homepage to stop listning/redirecting from 2301.

editing c:\hp\hpsmh\conf\smhpd.conf and removing the virtualservers/listing directives doesn't work cause on startup of the service it gets replaced to the default.

Reason to stop 2301 is security. (no more warnings a vunarable compaq webhost service might be there... or unkown http host is listning.) after all what one doesn't use or need should not be running on a server....
If any HP engineers are reading this; please remove the listing on 2301 from the product you have been friendly redirecting long enough to even convince the less smart system administrators :-)

Listening on port 2301 is an important part of the discovery process. Without it, an HP SIM CMS would have to have the ability to authenticate before discovering and identifying the system.

Re: disable 2301 listen of hp system homepage

Interesting reason... HP CMS has a certificate to authenticate with my systems so it shouldn't need a non-secure port IMHO. But I'll take your word for it that it cannot be helped and I'll need to continue the port listining on port 2301. :-(
