disk treshold alert on virtual machine with hp sim?
does anybody know, is it possible with virtual machine management pack or insight control suite to monitor the disk usage of a virtual machine (linux and windows), - and to get threshold alerts via hp sim?
tnx! gerald

Re: disk treshold alert on virtual machine with hp sim?
that sounds quite interesting and exactly what i was looking for... :-)
i tried to run a report against all virtual machines - logical disk drives...
and i get:
Logical Disk Drives: No data available
do i have to enable disk monitoring explicitely on the vm's?
tnx! gerald

Re: disk treshold alert on virtual machine with hp sim?
maybe this is the reason, that i cannot see the logical dosks in the report as well├Г !
what does sim mean with "...not connected..."?
the vm is recognized as "...hosted by esx host..." on virtual platform...

Re: disk treshold alert on virtual machine with hp sim?
guess i found the problem of not gettings the logical disc infos:
vcenter seems to have lost it's communication to hp sim, or vice versa...
please see attached screenshot!
the problem is: i cannot EDIT the settings to verify them, - if pressing EDIT i can enter port, user name and password, - but not the system name /address field, - this is greyed out. trying to remove the failed vcenter setting completely results in another error: " "System Name/Address" cannot be empty string or only spaces."...
trying the NEW button and addmy vcneter server again results in: "vCenter Server has already been added"...
ever seen this?
tnx! gerald

Re: disk treshold alert on virtual machine with hp sim?
after fixing the vcenter communications thing, now i have been able to set up the perf treshholds. seems to work, - even with non-win-os... :-)
what i'm asking myself, - how is the disk usage calculated, if there are more than one hdd within the vm-server??
because on the "vm performance"-tab of a vm with more than one hdd, there is shown only ONE line for the "Virtual Disk tilization"...
tnx! gerald
