how to discovery non-hp server with sim 6.0 under linux platform
hello, thanks in advance.
I own a IBMx336 server with its management software (SysDir6_1_1_Common_Agent_Linux_x86).
I expect HP sim can discovery and control the IBM server.I discovery with sim manually, but fail.common agent can support wbem, but sim can not detect it.
so, can you give me some tips how I can do it.
does it need some additional plug-ins?
BTW: sim's version is Systems Insight Manager 6.0 - Linux
attachment is the log about discovery process and setup log about IBM's software.

Re: how to discovery non-hp server with sim 6.0 under linux platform
HP SIM is aimed at managing HP Servers. It does not communicate with IBM hardware agents.
You may be able to identify and collect some information about it. For that you'll either need SNMP or WBEM to be correctly configured.
You will be able to monitor the server being up / down.
If the IBM Agents send SNMP traps when they detect an error, and you can load the correct MIBs into HP SIM then you might be able to do some hardware error handling.
If you have HPSIM 6.0 then you're ahead of us as it's not been officially released yet.
