Re: hp sim 7.3 not working

Hi,

I completed the upgrade of HP SIM 7.3 and since then I am not able to access the sim interface via port 50000, the listener is present, but nothing happen.

how can I debug this?

Hello Christian,

Please have a look in the System Insight Manager under the folder logs and find the mxdomainmgr.log file to see if there are errors, most of the time problems are database related. You can also log for the mxdomainmgr exe file in the task manager. If the process keeps growing and then restarts you might have a database problem. But as i said you'll see that in the logfile. Look at the top part, the first 2 pages should give enough info. If needed you can post that part of the log if you need more hints.

Hi Andrew,

I really don't know what to look for, I have attached the log file. The mxdomainmgr is using 30% of the cpu and 1.3gb of ram, look excessif.

Hello Christian,

The SQL connection works but perhaps it's corrupt, not that i can see a DBa error. You could run the following command on the SIm server : MXCONFIGREPO -c

This checks the database consistency. If you see errors you can use the fix command :

To correct HP SIM database corruption, perform the following steps:

Stop the HP SIM service.
Run the Central Management Server (CMS) command MXCONFIGREPO -f.
Restart the HP SIM service.

Was this a clean install or an upgrade over a 7.2 or earlier version ?

Hello Christian,

Like i typed i don't see an error in the log but it can't hurt to run it any way. If that does not work you can reinstall Sim with a new database and then change the config files to point to the old database. If you search for the new database name and replace the name with the old one that should work. If your SIM server is a virtual i would first make a snapshot or if it's physical break the mirror that way you have a back-up in case things break. But then that is already the case.

I'm trying to redo the update again. I tried running before insight management advisor and is telling me that the port are busy, see below, but all the ports are used by mxdomain, see right after.
