hp vca without hp smh

Hi,

Does anyone know if it's possible to use the Version Control Agent without installing/using the System Management Homepage on a server?

If possible, we would like to disable the smh and still be able to use the vca.

We are trying this on linux, so far without success, the vca seems not to be working when smh is disabled.

Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks.

Are you have HP SIM installed on the same machine. Have you stopped SMH service? If SIM is not installed and if you have stopped SMH service, i dont think you can access VCA. there is no seperate GUI to use VCA. Else you have to start HPSUM again and there you get the agents installed and the installed state, etc.

No. Not only does the SMH provide the user interface, it hosts the web services that HP SIM talks to.

... What David said - also, SIM is unable to retrieve the software status without a trust relationship - this relationship is built by SMH through the SIM certificate. VCA does not have any built-in features for trusting.
