read errors failing array
Hi there,
I know I can see 'read errors' via the data collection reports on servers but is there a way to receive a notification if these start happening.
We recently had to rebuild a server because a drive failed with the spare and new disk was not allowed to rebuild the array because one of the active disks had read errors. We managed a 300+ servers and manually checking these is not an option.
Any help on this matter would be appreciated.

Re: read errors failing array
Did you have the HP Agents installed?
Is SNMP configured to send traps to HPSIM?
The agents should pick this up.
You can test the alert process by using the SNMP Trap Send option in the HP MAnagement Agents GUI (under Control Panel). That should generate a "Major" event if things are configured correctly.

Yes, the HP agents are installed and I get traps for everything else on the server. We monitor 300+ servers and I have never seen traps for read errors on a disk before.
