reporting
all i want is a simple report showing what the current firmware is and whats avaialable, is this possible?

No.
You can report on what version is installed on the servers, array controllers etc.
If you download firmware either manually or automatically then the VCA will have the latest firmware.
But there's no report that you can run that matches up the two.
