Re: AF401A UPS management module, pin out for serial ports?
Thanks for your answer. Well, I have one more question.
Do you know pin out for the cable?
I found that pin out for adapter, 432734-001, supplied with UPS MM is:
RJ45 - DB9, description
1 - 8 CTS
2 - 4
3 - 4
4 - 3 Tx
5 - 2 Rx
6 - 5 GND
7 - 1, 6
8 - 7 RTS
With standard network office or patch cable I wouldn't have crossed Tx and Rx signals (null-modem cable) and communication shouldn't work, I suppose.
With rollover cable (Cisco) GND signals wouldn't match.

Re: AF401A UPS management module, pin out for serial ports?
Hi Brian,
Just wondering if you can provide any more info on the UPS management module pin out information you've posted (I know it's a pretty old post now).
Specifically:
- Where did get the info from?
- Is there any HP literature that backs this up that you can direct me to?
- What does CC refer to on pins 1 and 7?
- What should I expect to see on pin 7 on a low battery event (change in voltage, change in resistance/impedance, change in current)?
We're trying to rig something up similar to this -> http://shared.liebert.com/SharedDocuments/Application%20Notes/ap_note_cisco.pdf for performing a clean shutdown of a Cisco CUE module without the need for SSH scripts, but need more information on the "low battery" signal.
Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Mick

Re: AF401A UPS management module, pin out for serial ports?
Thanks for the 432734-001 pinout, worked out well as a reference for building serial console cable!
(and for Cisco router it was enough to have tx,rx and gnd pins connected).
