Adding a ethernet pci-e nic to a proliant DL360p G8
I have got a proliant DL360p G8. It has a HP 530-FLR-SFP NIC card, but I have no optic fiber lan but a copper 1Gbps one, so I can't connect the server to the lan.
I wonder if I could use a PCI-E slot to plug ANY pci-e GbE card and it will work all fine or if it will be neccesary to replace the 530-FLR with a 331-FLR card or some other card specially made for HP.
I have tested the server with a usb-ethernet card, it works fine if I boot the server with a linux pendrive, for instance but it is not recognized by vmware ESXi.
best regards
