I wanted to get support from HP for the used servers I bought for my home lab, but... getting G7 Proliants under any sort of warranty cost literally more than I paid for the servers. All I really wanted was the configuration DVD iso. Not worth the cost at all.

I've been in the IT industry for 25 years. I used to recommend 2 generation old HP servers to anyone who asked about good, cheap servers. You used to make it really easy to maintain servers, even old ones. Now, you've fallen into the "how can we extract more money from people" trap, and I can't recommend your stuff any more. 

It's too bad, really, because I love your gear. But your business practices have turned me off.
