HP 700/70 question

I have an HP 700/70 terminal. I'm programming function keys in the terminal setup and need to know how to get the "ESC" character to show. When I go to program the key and hit the ESC key, the terminal just beeps. Help please??

If you are programming the keys from the keyboard (not from a program or script), then turn on DISPLAY FUNCTIONS (the same keyset as REMOTE MODE). Now the ESC key will show up as a miniature EC. Turn it off after you are done or all the text from the computer will have CR LF etc showing up.

Note that manually programming the keys is OK for testing but in a production environment, I would create a program or script to download the keys as needed.
